Eden's Birth

Now that Eden is six weeks old, I finally decided to post her birth pictures as promised! Her birth was a truly beautiful experience, I love to relive the whole thing! I had a very slow pre-labour which started at 8 am and lasted all day.... just mild contractions. At dinner time I invited my doula, Teri and her daughter Cait, who was her assistant, to come and join me at my house. We hung out and timed the contractions (which were about 8 minutes apart on average). A few hours later, we called the midwife to come over to see how things were progressing. My midwife, RoseAnn showed up and we all just chilled out together, watching American Idol. Just before 10 pm, RoseAnn checked me out and confirmed that I was about 4 cm dilated. I was still quite comfortable and I wanted things to pick up a little so she did a 'stretch and sweep' and then we decided to head over to the hospital. The stretch and sweep was certainly effective! My contractions went into high gear and the baby was born two hours later! My mom and Melanie arrived just as Eden was making her entrance into the world and Melanie captured these amazing photos of Eden's first few moments in the world. I will always cherish these pictures!! There were so many amazing pictures, here a just a few of my favourites....

She's Here!!

Our beautiful daughter, Eden Trish Elizabeth arrived safely January 17, 2008 at 12:06 am, weighing 8 lbs 6 oz. Here she is just 8 hours old! More pictures to follow.

37.5 weeks pregnant!!

Today after Kallie's photo session, Melanie and I had a quick photo session.... of my pregnancy! It's been unusually warm lately (for January!) and we'd been wanting to do an outdoor pregnancy session in a field. I'm 2.5 weeks away from my due date and am definitely feeling like I'm ready to meet this baby of mine! Melanie is going to photograph the birth... so stay tuned!

Beautiful Baby Kallie

Kallie's parents had all these gorgeous clothes, umbrella and fan that they bought for her when they adopted her from China. Melanie and I had a lot of fun photographing Kallie today! She is such a DOLL!!

Ray and Julia's Wedding!

What a BEAUTIFUL couple we photographed yesterday! Melanie and I babysat Julia and her siblings when they were just little... and we also got to watch Ray grow up too! How exciting it was for us to photograph their wedding!! Congratulations Julia and Ray! We LOVED LOVED LOVED your wedding! You guys are awesome!

Baby Christy May

We LOVE newborns at Father's Eye Photography! We've been eagerly anticipating the arrival of baby Christy (who arrived just before Christmas!). DW and Jessie are first time parents and are so natural with their newborn girl. What a beautiful baby she is!

Mankis Family

Mel and I were so excited to do a real winter photo session yesterday! We met the Mankis family at their home and couldn't believe how adventurous they were! Despite the cold, they were right in the snow... throwing it, sitting in it, lying in it! What fun! It was such a pleasure meeting this fun family. The blog is STILL acting up....
